Greenawalt and Tison went on a killing spree that claimed six lives. They ran into a police roadblock on 11 August where Greenawalt and Tison's sons were arrested. Tison fled into the desert and died of exposure.

Serial killer Dimitris Vakrinos commits suicide by hanging with a shoelace at the age of 36 in Athens, Attica, Greece. A guard found the Vakrinos hanging in the showers of the prison isolation ward where he was being held with two other prisoners.
