43-year-old serial killer and cannibal Dorángel Vargas, originally José Dorángel Vargas Gomez aka El Comegente aka Hannibal Lecter of the Andes is arrested when 8 bodies are found on a piece of wasteland near his shack in San Cristobal, Estado Táchira, Venezuela. An inspection of the shack Vargas was living on near the area revealed several vessels containing human flesh and viscera prepared for consumption, along with three human heads and several feet and hands. Vargas confessed to having killed and eaten at least 10 men over a period of two years.
