Mengele was buried in Embu das Artes under the name Wolfgang Gerhard, whose identification card he had been using since 1971. The remains were exhumed on 6 June 1985 and extensive forensic examination confirmed with a high degree of probability that the body was Mengele's.

Archibald Henderson is shot in the head and solved in acid by serial killer John George Haigh aka The Acid Bath Murderer at the age of 52 in 2 Leopold Road, Crawley, Sussex, United Kingdom.

Haigh then lured the doctor's 41-year-old wife Rosalie Henderson to his workhop and killed her as well.
