Amer was approached by high-ranking Egyptian officers and was given a choice to stand trial for treason, which would inevitably have ended with his conviction and execution, or die an honourable death by taking poison. Amer chose the latter option and received a full military burial.

Erika Namba is abducted and strangled by serial killer, cannibal and necrophile Tsutomu Miyazaki aka The Little Girl Murderer at the age of 4 in Naguri, Saitama, Japan.

Miyazaki sent a postcard to her family assembled using words cut out of magazines: "Erika. Cold. Cough. Throat. Rest. Death."
