Davison entered the race track in order to attach the Women's Social and Political Union flag to Anmer, so that when the horse crossed the finishing line it would be flying the WSPU flag. Davison died four days later in Epsom Cottage Hospital due to a fractured skull and internal injuries caused by the incident.

Reyer de Bruijn is beaten to death by serial killer Hans van Zon at the age of 47 in Heeswijk, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands.

Afterwards van Zon returned to cut de Bruijn's throat.
