 Anti-war protester George Winne commits suicide by self-immolation at the age of 23 in Revelle Plaza, San Diego, California, United States. The day before Winne ignited gasoline-soaked rags in his lap next to a sign that said "In God's name, end this war." His act was inspired by the self-immolation of Buddhist monk Thích Quảng Đức. |
