Within days a total of 3.300 animals, mostly poultry and rabbits, were found dead. 1.600 people of all ages had been examined and 447 were found to suffer from skin lesions or chloracne. (10 July 1976)

The main suspect was Marion's husband William who had been on a fishing holiday in Ardrishaig but was suspected of driving around 90 miles through the night, faking a break-in to his own house, murdering his family and driving back. Watt spent two months in prison.
