Tracy Browne is attacked with a hammer by serial killer Peter Sutcliffe aka The Yorkshire Ripper at the age of 14 in Silsden, Silsden, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

Sutcliffe ran off when he saw the lights of a passing car, leaving Browne requiring brain surgery. Sutcliffe was not convicted of the attack but confessed in 1992. Browne later said that she had been charmed by Sutcliffe at first: "We had walked together for almost a mile – for about 30 minutes and I never once felt intimidated or in danger."
