On 17 May Mei was force-fed by an inmate who had no medical skills at all, the feeding tube was wrongly inserted causing serious injuries. After she returned to her cell she had a headache and started to vomit blood, lapsed into a coma and never regained consciousness again. Mei was the 19th Falun Gong member to die in police custody.

Gwen Burton is assaulted and raped with a hammer by serial killer Harvey Carignan aka The Want-Ad Killer aka Harv the Hammer at the age of 19 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States.

Burton was left for dead but survived.
