Eistetter informed police that Pickton handcuffed her but that she escaped after suffering several lacerations, disarming him and stabbing him with his weapon. Pickton was released on $2,000 bond but the charge was dismissed in January 1998. Pickton was arrested on 22 February 2002 and confessed to 49 murders.

Dancer, singer and actress Josephine Baker born as Freda Josephine McDonald aka The Bronze Venus or The Black Pearl dies of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 69 in Hôpital de la Salpêtrière, Boulevard de l'Hôpital, XIIIe, Paris, Île-de-France, France. On 8 April 1975 Baker starred in a retrospective revue at the Bobino in Paris, 'Joséphine à Bobino 1975', celebrating her 50 years in show business. Four days later she was found lying peacefully in her bed surrounded by newspapers with glowing reviews of her performance. She was in a coma after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.
